5 Reasons to Believe You Can Succeed

This is the first installment in a series of bits-n-pieces-style articles containing Lists of Five. Most of these “thought riffs” are based on things I share with my students throughout the day aimed at building their confidence and pointing them in the right direction (and a few even come from them!).

“Why Five?” Haven’t you heard? Five is the new Ten!

Yeah, that, and I want to share ideas pertaining to music, goal-setting, achievement, and the like, in a form that is quick and easy to read. I figure just about anything worth saying can be boiled down to a few bite-sized chunks and 5 just seemed like the perfect number!

So here we go, with 5 REASONS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN SUCCEED. I hope you’ll be encouraged!

1. You can succeed because you’ve got no competition when it comes to being yourself. Never has there been nor ever will there be another “you” in the entire universe. Starting today, enjoy being you!

2. You can succeed because you are committed not just to the possibility of success, but to the process. Didn’t know there was a difference? Starting today, you do!

3. You can succeed because you’ve got the same 24 hours in a day as everyone else. One major difference between those who succeed and those who do not is how they choose to spend those hours. Starting today, choose wisely!

4. You can succeed because present circumstances are no indicator of future outcomes. People of great stature have risen from the ashes of poverty as often as from the ease of riches. Poverty doesn’t limit you and riches don’t entitle you, so stop looking behind or around you. Starting today, look forward!

5. You can succeed because passion and dedication, the only true dividers between the average and the great, are free. No lack of tools, resources, education or pedigree can trump the will to succeed. Starting today, go for it!

Feel free to speak up or add your own “reasons” in the Comments below!

I absolutely agree with you, when you said to compete against yourself. Competition is good, but I have never gotten further in life than when I tried to beat my best.

And then you don’t have to worry about the competition cheating!

That is a great 5. Number one rang so true with me. I have been uniquely created to be me and nobody does me better than me. But, not just me…I believe that is true for everyone.
